The Institute takes multiple initiative to support persons with disability (PwD).
1. Disability officer
- There is a dedicated reservation cell, Mrs. Swati Biswas, Joint Registrar, is the Liaising Officer for PwDs in respect of matters relating to representations of persons belonging to the persons with Disabilities.
- Coordination with Health Centre and Counselling Services.
2. Infrastructure Accessibility
- The campus is barrier free and accessible for persons with disability (PwD).
- More than 80% of buildings have ramps, lifts, and disabled-friendly washrooms to facilitate accessibility.
- All apartments within the institute are equipped with ramps or lifts, ensuring comfortable accommodation for residents with disabilities.
- Dedicated washroom is available for the use by persons with disabilities.
3. Accommodations
- Accommodations in class:
- Seating preferences in class for better accessibility.
- Laboratory assistance based on individual needs.
- Tutors assigned for students to assist after class hours if needed.

- Reader/Scribe is provided.
- Raised chair/table is provided.
- Accessible format of question paper as in preferred fonts or font size.
- Extended time as directed by Government of India regulations.
- Accommodations for Campus Residency:
- Given preference in hostel allotment to ensure accessible living arrangements.
- Ground floor hostel rooms ground floor flats is assigned for easier accessibility.
- Adjustable chair and table available in hostel mess and canteens.
- Accommodation in Career:
- Accessible terminals to take placement exams.
- Dedicated volunteers to assist and navigate during placement drives.
4. Transportation accessibility
- Wheelchair facilities are available in every department and hostel, ensuring ease of movement.
- E-Rickshaws are easily accessible on campus, providing eco-friendly and convenient transportation.
- A university bus facility is available to assist students and staff in commuting cross the campus.
5. Assistive Tool for accessible content
- The Institute website has provision to enlarge the written text and links to download freely available screen readers for easy access by visually challenged people.
- Cognizance and procurement of new assistive tech (hardware and software).
6. Financial Accessibility
- Fee waivers are available for students belonging to the Persons with Disabilities (PwD) category. More details here.
