Prof. Devendra Kumar M. Sc. (Physics), M. Tech. & Ph. D. (Materials Science) started his research career at Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur working on electrical behavior of oxide glasses. For a brief period, between 1981-84, he served as Research Engineer at Advanced Center for Materials Science, Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, before joining the Department of Ceramic Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology (Banaras Hindu University) Varanasi in July 1984. Presently he Professor (HAG) and Head of the Department.
