• Centenary Celebration (2024)

The Department of Ceramic Engineering at IIT (BHU) is celebrating its centenary in 2024. This milestone marks 100 years since our legendary and esteemed founder, Bharat Ratna Pt. Madan Mohan Malviya Ji, who with his amazing foresight established the department in 1924. During this period very few countries had ceramic engineering schools, namely the UK, Germany, Japan and the US. Our alumni have been instrumental in advancing India's industrialization, particularly in the production of backbone industries like steel, cement, refractories, advanced materials, glass, tiles, and sanitary wares, etc. Over the years, many of our alumni have joined as faculty at top American universities. A lot of our Alumni have joined advanced material industries in the US which are engaged in the manufacturing of semiconductors, chips, etc. and many have joined companies like Intel Corp. Lot of our Alumni have gone to top Business Schools and are CEOs of big corporations. Many are entrepreneurs and industrialists. In a lighter vein, we actually have a few ministers in the Govt. also.
