Originally from the serene town of Joypur in Assam, Satarupa Dutta has always been driven by a profound passion for science and technology. This passion led her to pursue a Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering from Assam Engineering College, Guwahati, where she laid the foundation for her journey of scientific inquiry and innovation.  Satarupa's research voyage commenced during her M. Tech. project at IIT Guwahati, where she focused on developing a point-of-care testing tool for quantifying alpha-amylase levels in human blood. This endeavor was not just academic; it was deeply personal, rooted in her desire to alleviate the burdens faced by individuals, such as her father, who grapple with health conditions in resource-limited regions. This project ignited her commitment to 'research with a vision,' shaping her mantra for future endeavors. For her doctoral dissertation, she delved into fluid mechanics and microfluidics, conducting both experimental and theoretical investigations, fostering a comprehensive understanding of fundamental science and practical applications. With a keen interest in sustainable energy solutions, she embarked on a post-doctoral project at TU-Darmstadt, focusing on energy generation from waste heat. Satarupa's trajectory is guided by a steadfast commitment to addressing pressing societal challenges through innovative scientific solutions. Beyond research, Satarupa is committed to translating her innovations into tangible products under different government initiatives. She recognizes her privilege of receiving a high-quality education and believes in the responsibility to give back to society. This ethos drives her desire to engage with grassroots communities and contribute to the nation's self-reliance and economic growth.
