A.P.Harsha received his Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Mysore, India, in the year 1991. Master of Technology (Industrial Tribology) and PhD (Tribology) from Indian Institute of Technology: Delhi in 1997 and 2004, respectively. Currently, he is a Professor (HAG) in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology (Banaras Hindu University), Varanasi, India. He has several years of teaching and research experience in Mechanical Engineering with a particular research emphasis on Materials Tribology and Bio-Tribology. He has published more than 100 research papers in Journals and conferences. He is a recipient of the Royal Academy of Engineering Major Research Award by the UK in 2008-2009 on the project entitled “The development and validation of novel lubricants to be used in the testing of biomaterials employed in total joint replacement”. This award allowed him to carry out research on bio-tribology at Newcastle University, UK. He had also worked as a Guest Scientist at the Federal Institute of Materials Research and Testing (BAM), Berlin, Germany, in 2011, 2014, and 2018 respectively. He served as the Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, IIT(BHU) from 02.08.2018 to 01.08.2021. He has attended the Leadership for Academicians Programme (LEAP), a three-week flagship leadership development training programme conducted jointly by the Indian Institute of Technology (BHU) with Penn State, USA (25th February 2019 – 9th March 2019, plus one-week training by Penn State, USA from 11th March 2019 - 15th March 2019). The program was supported by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), the Government of India.
