Engineering geosciences is the application of the earth sciences to human problems that relate to Earth and earth systems. It has a link with geology, civil engineering, mining and petroleum engineering. It provides a versatile set of skills applicable to a wide range of contemporary problems. These issues are not being addressed together by any of the specialization currently offered by the department. In this program the emphasis is given on the techniques of geological engineering to the geology background students as well as the knowledge of geological problem to the engineering graduate. This course is open for engineering graduate and M.Sc. Degree holder of Geology who qualify GATE. At present seven students are pursuing their Ph.D degree program in this specialization on crustal and geodynamic evolution of granulites of India and hydrogeological, SWAT modeling and river modeling.
