Transportation engineering or transport engineering is the application of technology and scientific principles to the planning, functional design, operation and management of facilities for any mode of transportation in order to provide for the safe, efficient, rapid, comfortable, convenient, economical, and environmentally compatible movement of people and goods (transport). The Laboratory is well-equipped with facilities for pavement materials testing, traffic engineering and transportation planning studies. The latest addition to the Division is the computing facility, which houses some of the very latest equipment. These facilities not only enhance teaching, but are also of much value in the conduct of research and consultancy services.
