Dr. Muthu is a Professor of Pharmaceutics in the Department of Pharmaceutical Engineering and Technology, IIT(BHU). His research works mainly focused on targeted and/or theranostic delivery of anti-cancer drugs, antipsychotics, antithrombotics and antimicrobials. Dr. Muthu has received over 12 major awards. He has received BOYSCAST fellowship from the Department of Science and Technology (DST), India and received the CREST Award from the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), India.  He has received IMS-Research Publication Award for three years. Dr. Muthu has also received the VICE-CHANCELLOR’S MEDICAL RESEARCH AWARD, BHU and International Faculty Award (VIFA-2016), India. Among numerous other awards, Dr. Muthu has received BIRAC-DBT-Gandhian Young Technological Innovation (GYTI) Award in 2017. He has been elected as a member of the National Academy of Sciences, India (NASI) in 2019. Additionally, he is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry (FRSC).

Our work is at the interface of pharmaceutical nanotechnology and theranostics. A major focus is the study and development of nanomaterials-based platforms to deliver drugs and their targeting particularly surface-modified polymers, polymer-ligand conjugate, and targeted nanoformulation.
