I, Virendra Pratap Singh (DOB: 11/01/1956), entered this Department as Lecturer in 1981 and continues till date. Before that, after completing my M Tech, I joined Osmania University (in Dept of Mining Engg) in 1980. I did my schooling from Central School, Agartala, Tripura and completed Higher Secondary (CBSE) in 1971. Took admission in IT BHU in 1971 and after completing my  B Tech in Mechanical Engg in 1976, I did M Tech in 1979. I completed Ph D in 1986 from this Department under the supervision of Prof P C Upadhyay.

My teaching experience is 38 years. After completing my M Tech in 1979 I availed the first opportunity as teacher and joined Osmania University, Hyderabad in 1980. However I joined the Mining Engg department of the University as Lecturer in Mechanical Engg. This department of University is located near the town Kothagudam. After ten months of teaching at this place, I joined Dept of Mech Engg at IT BHU in 1981. I got my Associate Professorship in 1992, and Professorship in the year 2000. 

In the past years I have taught several courses:
At UG level: Engineering Mechanics, Strength of Materials, Theory of Machines, Machine Design-I, Mechanics of Deformable Solids, Dynamics of Machine, Vibrations, System Dynamics, Fracture Mechanics.
At PG level: Theory of Elasticity, Theory of Vibrations, Vibration and Shock Analysis, Nonlinear Vibrations.
