Students' Parliament

The Students’ Parliament is the highest representative body of students in the Institute. It serves as a critical link between the students and the Institute administration, acting like a feedback system in matters of policy via various standing committees. The role of the Students’ Parliament is to discuss the matters of student welfare and interest and initiate proposals related to the general body for implementation by the Institute through the DoSA. It acts as the collective voice of the students and represents the general body at all forums, within or outside the Institute. The Parliament consists of the Vice President (Convener), the Assistant Vice President (Co-Convener), the elected Parliamentarians, the General Secretaries of all the Councils, and two students nominated by the Patron.

Cultural Council

The Cultural Council, IIT (BHU), is one of the oldest councils of the Gymkhana. Encompassing seven clubs, the Cultural Council organizes workshops, activities, and events like the Cultural Weekend.

Kashiyatra

Kashiyatra, the annual socio-cultural festival of the Cultural Council, witnesses a footfall of over sixty thousand students from around two hundred colleges across the country. It celebrates music, dance, theatre, literature, quizzing, and fine arts through myriad competitions that draw huge participation. Kashiyatra has been associated with organizations like PETA and Kashi Utkarsh—a club of student volunteers of IIT (BHU)—to work against various social problems, with the intention of transforming the society into a better one. Kashiyatra also fulfils its social obligations through events like ‘Run for Cancer’—a marathon for spreading general awareness about cancer. Kashiyatra has been blessed to have received warm regards and best wishes from none other than the Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi.

Film and Media Council

The Film and Media Council of IIT (BHU) encompasses all the activities of film, media, and digital arts genres. It comprises six clubs, namely Design, Photography, Cinematography, Animation, Media, and Social Outreach.

FMC Weekend

FMC Weekend is the annual film and digital arts festival organized by the Film and Media Council. FMC Weekend is a first-of-its-kind festival in the country, providing a platform of national stature to college students across India to showcase their creative side, participate in various online and offline events, and increase their knowledge through the workshops and guest talks that are conducted during the FMC Weekend. In addition to the above, open-air movie screenings are organized every evening, which is the highlight of the three-day fest.

Games & Sports Council

The The Games and Sports Council is responsible for administrating, regulating, and promoting games and sports activities around the IIT BHU campus. The council has teams through an array of 19 sports that include Athletics, Badminton, Basketball, Boxing, Carrom, Chess, Cricket,Football, Handball, Hockey, Kabaddi, Kho-Kho, Lawn-Tennis, Powerlifting, Squash, Taekwondo, Table-Tennis, Volleyball, and Weightlifting. Each sport possesses best-in-class equipment and facilities for the players to meet success for their hard work. With a surfeit of exciting events, championships, and active participation year-round, it encourages positive sportsmanship among the enthusiastic students of IIT BHU.

Spardha

Spardha is the annual sports festival of IIT (BHU) under the Games and Sports Council. With a glorious history of over 30 years, Spardha has made its presence felt nationwide. Spardha romps in participation from premier institutes such as the IITs and the IIMs, among other colleges. Spardha celebrates sportsmanship through an array of 19 sports that include athletics, badminton, basketball, boxing, carrom, chess, cricket, football, handball, hockey, kabaddi, kho-kho, lawn tennis, powerlifting, squash, taekwondo, table tennis, volleyball, and weightlifting. After a legacy of success, Spardha today stands as the largest inter-collegiate sporting event of India.

Technex - Asia's Oldest Techno-Management Festival

Club of Programmers (COPS)
About

Club of Programmers (or better known as COPS) understands this responsibility and plays a crucial part in maintaining the coding culture in the institute. Introductory workshops are held for freshers to introduce them to the various facets of programming. Regular competitions are held for the general student body to test and sharpen their programming skills. COPS also has an essential role in the successful conduction of Technex, the institute’s techno-management festival. ICM(International Coding Marathon) event organised by COPS in Technex attracts the maximum participation in the fest.

The Social Service Council is a student-driven body dedicated to fostering social awareness, responsibility and engagement within the college community. With the aim to create a better world for all, it serves as a platform for students to contribute to meaningful causes through various initiatives, including community outreach, social awareness campaigns, and volunteering projects. The council address pressing societal issues such as education, healthcare, sustainability and poverty alleviation. Through its initiative, the Social Service Council aims to cultivate empathy, leadership, and a strong sense of civic duty among students, encouraging them to be proactive change-makers. By organizing the annual socio-awareness fest, Jagriti and several year-round activities, the council plays a pivotal role in shaping a socially conscious and active student body.

KASHI UTKARSH CLUB

Vision

To motivate people to rise, come up and build up a more prosperous and sustainable society with their own hands.

Mission

Spreading awareness regarding education amongst people from marginalized communities. Empowering people from marginalized communities to emerge as role models for the rest and thereby catalyzing the process of their mental and social upliftment.Creating awareness amongst people about various schemes and programs of the government. Empowering women by providing them opportunities to learn multivariate skills so as to make them self-dependent in the future and Setting up of self-help groups. Inculcation of creative learning habits among underprivileged students living in slum areas.

HEALTH AND HYGIENE CLUB

Vision

To generate and propagate awareness about the importance of salubrious living habits and developing a feeling of sanitation, health, hygiene and cleanliness among the fellow human beings.

Mission

Creating awareness about various causes of diseases and their preventive measures. Organizing activities contributing towards a healthy society such as medical camps, blood donation camps etc. to create a sense of mutual cooperation across the spectra of fellow human beings. To ingrain in the minds of the students and the society the vedic ideology of “Healthy mind lives in a healthy body.

SOCIAL PROJECTS CLUB

Vision

The social project club seeks to contribute to the human community through focused and rigorous approaches on finding different roots and causes for the run-down of society and thereby forecasting its impacts and remedial measures.

Mission

Increasing the cognizance of the students about the situations around Varanasi through data generation and compilation. Assignment of live social projects to the students dealing with disciplinary punishments as a tool to enhance their moral conduct and in-turn making the society better and efficient. Provision of social internships and related activities for enhancing the chances of potential improvements, comprehensive root-cause analysis, thereby making them more experienced towards real-life situations.

SAHYOG (Educational awareness club)

Vision

To extend helping hands to mutually share the knowledge and simultaneously make the light ofeducation fathom the darkest parts of the society.

Mission

To spread awareness about education through some of the activities as mentioned below: Computer Literacy Programs, both on campus and off campus. Awareness about the various government schemes related to girl-child education, education loans, scholarship schemes etc.
