IIT (BHU) Varanasi’s long-term goal of reaching net-zero by 2070
IIT (BHU) Varanasi plays a significant role in contributing to the nation's efforts to combat climate change and achieve the goal of net-zero emissions [1]. India's commitment to reaching net-zero emissions by 2070 is in line with global efforts to limit the rise in global temperatures and mitigate the impacts of climate change.
To achieve this ambitious target, IIT (BHU) Varanasi is likely to undertake various strategies, policies, and initiatives at the institutional level. These may include:
- Renewable Energy Transition
- Energy Efficiency Measures
- Green Infrastructure
- Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS)
- Climate Research and Innovation
- Public Awareness and Education: Engaging in public awareness campaigns and educational programs to raise awareness about climate change and sustainable practices.
