Topic: "National Workshop on Institutional Digital Repository – DSpace-8 & ORCID Supported By ORCID GPF"
The National Workshop on Institutional Digital Repository – DSPACE-8 & ORCID, held on November 22-23, 2024, was a resounding success, drawing more than 200 registrations from across India. This event, organized by the Shreenivas Deshpande Library at IIT (BHU) Varanasi in collaboration with the Central Library at IIT Delhi, provided a unique platform to promote the use and integration of ORCID APIs within the Indian scholarly ecosystem. Over the course of two days, attendees engaged in hands-on sessions, receiving expert instruction from experienced professionals. Among the registrants, 50 participants were selected to attend in person, allowing for more interactive learning and networking opportunities. The event was coordinated by Dr. Navin Upadhyay and Kanu Chakraborty, who ensured a seamless experience for all involved. This workshop marked a significant step forward in strengthening digital research infrastructures and equipping scholars with the tools needed to excel in a rapidly evolving academic landscape.
Topic: "Enhancing Research and Education with JoVE Resources"
The workshop, organised by the Shreenivas Deshpande Library in collaboration with JoVE, on August 23, 2024, at ABLT Hall 01, IIT (BHU), Varanasi, successfully introduced over 100 participants to the valuable resources and tools offered by the JoVE platform. The event featured a presentation by Abigail De Souza, MSc Curriculum Specialist from JoVE, who provided a comprehensive overview of the platform's capabilities. The key takeaways are Diverse JoVE Resources, Library Access, JoVE Tools, Curriculum Integration and Interactive Learning. The workshop was a valuable opportunity for faculty and students at IIT (BHU) Varanasi to discover the potential of JoVE in enhancing research and education. The workshop successfully demonstrated the significant benefits of SciFinder-n in supporting research activities. By leveraging its advanced technology and extensive database, researchers are better equipped to find relevant, actionable information that can drive forward their scientific inquiries. The session provided valuable insights into the practical applications of SciFinder-n’s features, empowering participants to utilize these tools effectively in their research. Topic: "IEEE Authorship and Open Access Symposium: Tips and Best Practices to Get Published from IEEE Editors"
The Shreenivas Deshpande Library, in association with the IEEE, organized the Authorship and Open Access Symposium on 31 August 2023. More than 230 research scholars and faculty members attended this Authorship and Open Access Symposium. From this event, authors benefit from best practices in preparing a manuscript, navigating the journal submission process, and essential tips to help an author get published. It also reviews the opportunities authors and academic institutions have to enhance the visibility and impact of their research by publishing in the many open-access options available from IEEE. The session was presented by Dr. Ashutosh Dutta of Johns Hopkins University, USA, who provided critical insights on IEEE’s peer review and submission processes and tips on what editors look for in submissions. In addition, it covered topics such as IEEE Open Access programs for institutions, research strategies using IEEE Xplore, author tools from IEEE, and other essential resources for authors.

The Shreenivas Deshpande Library, in association with the Clarivate (Web of Science), organized the User Awareness Program "Embark on a Successful Research Journey with Web of Science." 4-part series program (on 4th Aug, 18th Aug, 1st Sep & 22nd Sep), 2023 through an online platform. More than 160 research scholars and faculty members attended this User Awareness Program.

Topic: "Springer Nature Author Workshop: Scientific Writing and Publishing"
The Shreenivas Deshpande Library, IIT (BHU), Varanasi, in association with the Springer Nature organized an Author Workshop on "Scientific Writing and Publishing" on 16th Sep 2022 at 2.00 PM at ABLT Hall, IIT (BHU). The workshop was presented by the expert Ms Suvira Srivastava, Publishing Director - Journals, Springer Nature with the aims to disseminate information about scientific writing and publishing. Also, the editor gives tips to researchers to help them become smart researchers and authors. More than 230 research scholars and faculty members attended this program. The resource person cleared doubts regarding publishing ethics, plagiarism, peer-review process. The Deputy Librarian, Dr Navin Upadhyay, moderated the session, and the Assistant Librarian, Mr Kanu Chakraborty, managed the workshop.
Topic: "How to Publish in Books and How to Publish in Academic Journals and Succeed with your Publication"
The Main Library, in association with the Department of Humanistic Studies and Taylor & Francis Group, had jointly organized Author Workshop on “How to Publish in Books” and “How to Publish in Academic Journals and Succeed with your Publication” on the 21st of July 2021, through an online platform (GotoWebinar tool). More than 200 research scholars and faculty members attended the online workshop in both sessions. The session first covered a glimpse into different processes involved in writing a book with a global publisher, including formulating book proposals, timelines, copyrights, royalties, and other essential factors by the speaker Mr Aakash Chakrabarty, Senior Commissioning Editor Politics & International Relations. The second session covered confidence to publish papers in academic journals, promote research outcomes through clearer written messages, reduce ambiguity and rejections, and increase the publication rate by Ms Victoria Babbit, Director of Research Development and Outreach. The participants actively participated, and for more than 40 minutes, the resource person cleared doubts regarding publishing ethics, plagiarism, peer-review process. The Main Library, in association with ACS, organized a "SciFinder-n Training - webinar series from 15-June to 9-July, 2021 through an online platform. More than 100 research scholars and faculty members attended the online webinar series. In this series the expert has discussed how to improve scholars effectiveness in locating pertinent information, allowing to save time, be more creative, and increase confidence in decision-making, etc. The Deputy Librarian, Dr Navin Upadhyay, and the Assistant Librarian, Mr Kanu Chakraborty, managed the workshop.
Topic: "Making the Most Out of Your PhD Journey: Research, Skills, and The Great Beyond"
The Main Library, in association with ACS, organized "Making the most out of your PhD Journey: Research, Skills, and The Great Beyond" a webinar on July 14, 2021, through an online platform. More than 160 research scholars and faculty members attended these sessions. The session covered selecting a research advisor, putting together the first publication or defending a dissertation, and ways to align a PhD journey with career aspirations by the speaker Professor Sarbajit Banerjee of Texas A&M University and Senior Editor of ACS Omega. The webinar was moderated by Dr Deeksha Gupta of the American Chemical Society. The Deputy Librarian, Dr Navin Upadhyay, and the Assistant Librarian, Mr Kanu Chakraborty, managed the workshop.
Topic: "Innovation generation through utilizing patent knowledge"
The Main Library, in association with R&D, IIT (BHU), Varanasi and Clarivate, had jointly organized “Innovation generation through utilizing patent knowledge (demonstration using the Derwent Innovation Database)” online workshop on June 21, 2021, through Microsoft Teams platform. In this session, the expert demonstrated the database, its advantages, and patent searching methods. More than 40 faculty members attended these sessions. This webinar explored the benefits of publishing authors' work open access, the different options for making their work available, how the editorial process works, and the spectrum of choices available to researchers. The Main Library, in association with The Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) & CSIR, had jointly organized the editorial workshop on August 13 & 14, 2020, through an online platform. Session I by Dr Michaela Muehlberg and Session II by Professor Gill Reid (University of Southampton). The workshop explored publishing practices, editorial processes, and molecular precursors for thin-film semiconductor applications. The Library on 12th August 2018 celebrated Librarian’s Day with the library staff. 12th August is celebrated as Librarian’s Day in India, in remembrance of national professor of library science, Dr. S R Ranganathan’s birthday (12th August 1892). The Deputy Librarian and Assistant Librarian highlighted the contributions of Dr. Ranganathan towards the development of the library profession in India.

The Main Library IIT(BHU), in association with the National Digital Library of India (NME-ICT project), organized the 3rd Institutional Digital Repository Workshop at IIT(BHU), Varanasi, during 2nd & 3rd June 2017. More than 85 participants from IITs, NITs, Central Universities, and medical colleges attended the workshop. The workshop was inaugurated by the Director of IIT(BHU), Varanasi at the Centre for Computing and Information Services, New Lecture Theatre (LT-3) building.
