Bioprocess development in algal and Cyanobacterial biofuels and therapeutic protein, Biological analysis of water/wastewater and its treatment

Presently, Dr. Sanjay Kumar is working as an Associate Professor at School of Biochemical Engineering, IIT (BHU), Varanasi (Jan 2024). He did his B. Tech. (1995-1999) in Biochemical Engineering from Department of Biochemical Engineering and Food Technology, HBTI Kanpur. He has four years of Industrial Experience (1999-2003) in the area of breweries and yeast cultivation. Later, he did his M. Tech. (2003-2005) in Biochemical Engineering from School of Biochemical Engineering, IT-BHU Varanasi. He has completed his Ph.D. (Jan 2006 - Jan 2011) in the area of “therapeutic enzyme bioprocess development” from Biochemical Engineering Laboratory, Department of Biotechnology, IIT Guwahati. He has postdoctoral experience (Oct 2010 – Sept 2012) from Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, University of Windsor and Department of Chemical and Biochemical Engineering, University of Western Ontario, Canada in the area of “bioenergy bioprocess development”. After his post-doctoral experience, he has worked as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biotechnology, MNNIT Allahabad (Nov 2012 – Oct 2016) and School of Biochemical Engineering, IIT(BHU) Varanasi (Oct 2016 -Jan 2024).

Opportunities

We are looking for highly motivated PDF, PhD students and PG students to join our biofuel research group and work on some exciting projects on understanding and engineering of yeast, cyanobacterial and algal biofuels, MFC and biohydrogen. Research experience related to biofuel research with expertise in yeast, cyanobacteria / microalgae cultivation, microbial molecular biology, Microbial fuel cell, anaerobic bacterial cultivation, handling of bioreactor, gas chromatography analysis, bioprocess scale-up is desirable, but not essential.
