Traning & Placement Procedure

  1. The Training and Placement Office sends invitation to Companies/Organizations along with the required information
  2. Interested Company/Organization has to fill the Company Response Sheet (CRS) and submit it to the Training and Placement Office using the online form.
  3. If the Company/Organization wishes to visit the campus and conduct a Pre-Placement Talk (PPT) before the interview sessions, they can send a request along with the preferred dates
  4. The CRS is made available to the students, along with all the other information furnished by Company/Organization.
  5. Companies can ask for the resumes of interested students and shortlist students
  6. Dates are alloted to the company for their reqruitment process i.e. interview / GD etc.
  7. The company / organization is required to furnish the final list of students preferably on the date of interview or the next day.

Company Facilities


Besides a warm welcome, we provide companies with the following aid :

  • Large classrooms & halls for Pre-Placement Talks and Written Tests.
  • Air-conditioned rooms in the Training & Placement Office for Group Discussions and Interviews.
  • High-speed Internet connection.
  • Student volunteers for prompt action on the day of visit.
  • Arrangement for stay at IT Guest House, if intimated prior to visit, on a nominal charge fixed by the University.


Training & Placement Policy

Internship

Through the TPO

  1. One internship policy for all students will be followed throughout the institute.
  2. Any student who sits in any Intern opportunity in the campus and gets selected, he must fulfill the commitments to the concerned industry.
  3. Training Letter and Diary will not be given to students who after bagging an offer, overlook it and apply to some other places.
  4. If a company complains to the TPO regarding misbehavior, negligence or irresponsibility from the part of the student during the intern program, the student is liable to be debarred from forthcoming placement activities.

Off-Campus

  1. The Training and Placement Cell must be informed about the particulars of the internship programs undertaken before commencement of Internship.
  2. Every interested student can apply for two No-Objections Certificates from the TPO. However, once he gets selected for any one industry/institution, he must report to the concerned place without fail.
  3. The TPO should not get any complaints that particular person who was scheduled to undertake an Internship never reported back.
  4. If a company complains to the TPO regarding misbehavior, negligence or irresponsibility from the part of the student during the intern program, the student is liable to be debarred from forthcoming placement activities.

Penalties (for any person failing in above requirements)

  1. The student concerned will be barred from the placement activities of the TPO until 40% of his/her concerned branch has been recruited in the Placement session.
  2. Exceptions for the above rule are:
    • Serious injuries to the person resulting in hospitalization. He/she will be required to furnish all the detailed documents (X-Ray Reports, In-Door Reports and Discharge report).
    • Serious injuries to the near relatives of person (parents, own siblings and grandparents only) resulting in hospitalization. He/she will be required to furnish all the detailed documents (X-Ray Reports, In-Door Reports and Discharge report).

Placement

A class-based method will be implemented throughout the recruitment process. Jobs have been classified on basis of Cost-to- Company basis: (Rs. per annum)

Notes regarding the class slabs:

  1. Branches have been clubbed together to create a three pronged sections aimed to end the discrepancy among different branches.
  2. The class slab of a branch also gives an indication of the Pulling power of any branch in the industry.
  3. Aim of branch TPRs should be to ensure maximum placements.

Rules regarding the Placement:

  1. A mass recruiter is defined as a IT software company which recruits more than 50 students is called henceforth MR.
  2. No person if placed at a particular slab, at any stage, will apply for a slab lower than what he/she has already bagged.

  4. The TPO will try its best to accommodate the M.R s at the earliest slots available and will even consider bringing them on same day which will save time and will be advantageous to the students.
  5. Attendance for a company PPT is mandatory for all those who are interested in getting an offer from the concerned company and have submitted their willingness. Failure will result in debarring of the student automatically.

Welcome to Training & Placement Cell

The Training & Placement Office, IIT (BHU) Varanasi facilitates the process of placement of students passing out from the Institute besides collaborating with leading organizations and institutes in setting up of internship and training program of students.


The office liaises with various industrial establishments, corporate houses etc which conduct campus interviews and select graduate and post-graduate students from all disciplines. The Training & Placement Office provides the infra-structural facilities to conduct group discussions, tests and interviews besides catering to other logistics. The Office interacts with many industries in the country, of which nearly 200 companies visit the campus for holding campus interviews. The industries which approach the institute come under the purview of:

The placement season runs through the course of the year commencing the last week of July through to March. Pre-Placement Talks are also conducted in this regard as per mutual convenience. Job offers, dates of interviews, selection of candidates etc. are announced through the Training & Placement Office.


The Placement Office is assisted by a committee comprising representatives of students from the under-graduate and post-graduate engineering streams. The committee evolves a broad policy framework every year besides a set of rules which are inviolable. Students members are closely co-opted in implementing these policy decisions.
