With the
inspiration of Late Mahamana Pandit Madan
Mohan Malaviya
and with the untiring zeal and
enthusiasm of Late
Professor M.L.Schroff
(Father of Pharmacy Education in
India), this Department was
established as early as in 1932. This is the
first Institution in the
country to start the Degree
level Pharmacy Education and
can claim to be the pioneering
center for Pharmacy Education
in the Asian, African and
Far-East region of the world.
Students graduated from this
Department have spread over US,
Europe, UK, Malaysia and other
countries.
Courses
The Department
offers B Pharm
(4 yrs), Integrated
Dual Degree M Pharm
(5 yrs), M Pharm
(2 yrs), and Ph D
courses. M Pharm
course is offered in four
specialization areas namely Pharmaceutics,
Pharmaceutical
Chemistry, Pharmacology
and Pharmacognosy.
The courses are designed to
impart knowledge on various
aspects of drug design,
development, testing, and safe
and effective use of
drugs/medicines including drug
delivery systems. The courses
provide an unique fusion of
biology with engineering and
technological concepts to
develop skillful
process(es)/techniques for
designing, procuring and
evaluating various kinds of
drugs and drug delivery systems.
The courses also provide a
unique opportunity to pharmacy
professionals to serve the
humanity by alleviating the
discomfort, pain and sufferings
(caused by various diseases)
through discovery and
development of safe and
effective drugs/medicines.

through Joint Entrance
Examination (JEE) conducted by
Indian Institutes Technology and
to M
Pharm course through
Graduate Pharmacy Aptitude Test
(GPAT) conducted by AICTE, New
Delhi.
