1. How to create, save and compile a robot. Get it ready for battle.
- Start the application.
- Goto Robot > Robot Editor.
- The Robot Editor window will appear.
Goto File > New > Robot - Enter your bot_name. (e.g. Hercules)
- Next you will be prompted to supply a package name. The package name serves as the parent of several bots to be placed under common name. THE PACKAGE NAME MUST BE THE SAME AS YOUR TEAM-NAME FOR VIRTUAL COMBAT.
- A default robot appears. Code to train your robot for battle !!
- A default functional code has been provided for the robot.
- Save the robot. File > Save
- Choose the default option.
- Compile the robot.
Goto Compiler > Compile. - Your robot is all set for battle.
2. How to create a team of robots.
- Goto Robot > Create a robot team
- Select the bots you want to place in the team. Click Next.
- Enter Team-name and a short description too.
- Click Create Team.
- Your team is ready.
3. How to start a battle.
- Start the application.
- Goto Battle > New
- Select two teams for battle.
- Specify the number of rounds too. The default is 5.
- Click Next.
- Specify the Battle Field size. Note that an arena size of 800 X 600 will be used for rank calculations.
- Click Start Battle.
- Enjoy the battle !!
- Observe the slider at the bottom of the window to increase or decrease the pace of battle.
4. How to save/open the record of a battle.
- A battle record can be saved for display later after the battle is over.
- Goto Battle > Save Record
- Choose the destination folder for saving. The default is <installation-dir>/battles/
- Specify a file name and save it.
To open a battle record: - Goto File > Open Record
- Select the record (will be a file with .br extension)
- Enjoy the battle !!
5. How to package a team for submission.
- First, ensure that the package name for all the robots is the same as your registered team name for Virtual Combat.
- Create a team of robots. The team’s name should be the same as your registered team name for Virtual Combat.
- Goto Robot > Package robot for upload.
- Select the team you want to package.
- Click Next.
- Check the “include source” box.
- Click Next.
- Save the jar file. (the name of this jar file doesn’t matter)
- This file needs to be uploaded to CodeFest at submission portal for Virtual Combat.
- All submissions are to be done through the website portal only.
